iPads: What did you learn?
We are following the recommendations provided by Apple China service rep. for the use and deployment of these machines.
Management of technology resources?
Management is still a huge hurdle, no VPP (volume pricing)
feedback to Solution Keys
Re-imaging seems to be the solution for many issues (PX-Bobby)
Could use some customer service training or help in communicating with students and staff.
English proficiency could be higher
Skill set could be higher and a deeper understanding of educational needs could be enhanced.
We are happy with the management of their workload and that things do get fixed in a timely manner
Loaners not being followed up on (Puxi). PX MS admin would like to have metrics on loaners that are out to students
Perhaps a report on loaners could be included in the weekly summary from SK
Next year there will be possibility of insurance for students and teachers for 200 rmb membership fee. Details to be sent out in the fall. Some details need to be ironed out still.

Before spring break PD days, Teachers will need to move files from server if they want access to files during PD Days.
Novell Servers unavailable during PD Days, We repeat Novell servers unavailable during PD Days.
S, P, Temp, Nerd Drive will get migrated to Windows servers.
I and U will be there until the end of the year.
All Novell volumes will still be there when teachers come back from break but read only so no more adding
Not transferring all volumes to windows servers.
New Temp drive-Need to figure out how long we want files to exist there before they are wiped.
P drive to new T drive on Novell.
Shortcuts to new network folders -> Metal has a script for that that will be pushed out.
Students logging into Novell-Student usernames and passwords will still get them into Novell.
Students for new MS servers -> Jeff and Kris need to get with Orion ASAP to talk about naming conventions for students to log into the servers.
TRF's will need to conduct staff trainings on accessing these new MS servers and volumes.

3yr old MacBooks in use by teachers:
Out of warranty repair to be covered by school next year?
School will fix or replace it.
What about 3 yr. old Faculty Children (i.e. Glascock, Latzke, etc.) w/4 y.o. mac? Are repairs that would be normally covered under warranty will be out of pocket or covered by SAS?
Replacement faculty kids will follow the 3 year replacement plan.
Can we get memory for these units upgraded to 4GB? Funds available? Process?
Teachers wishing to upgrade to 4GB can contact the divisional TRF->Div. Principals->Andy for approval.
Needs to be on the teacher's initiative.
This could be an issue with Lion upgrade and older white macbooks with only 2GB of memory.

When we hit the 4 year mark on white macbooks that teachers have, we will turn over all teacher macs with Macbook Pros and redistribute old macbooks and newer white unibody teacher macbooks to ES divisions, etc.
